If anything the post Irene hype after NYC and LI were spared was muted relative to say Katrina.. More and more it appears the widespread damage from this hurricane will be even higher even if the wind speed or dollar loss might not top it. I think the media went so overboard for so long and most missed the initial hit to outlying areas of VT and upstate NY. By the time it all started coming out how bad it was is many communities there and in NJ by Tues-Wed most Americans had moved on..
