Let's remember Gibson hasn't been charged yet ... not even for the 2009 raid. Much less convicted, so we can't say "the wood is coming from a non-certified source."

Furthermore, the government itself said Gibson's problems would be non-existent if more of the labor had been done overseas ... that doesn't sound like the source of the wood is the real problem.

Lastly, 98% of the illegal logged wood goes to China. The country's deforestation problem is clealy mainly an issue of local agricultural and fuel practices plus timber exports (primarily to China). Accordingly, its hard to take seriously the idea that Gibson is raping an entire country for fingerboards.

Maybe Gibson should just export all their guitars from China, since that country doesn't have a Lacey Act.
