The new sound chip has the equivalent of over 2 million
transisters (more than the Pentium processor), has virtual
scaling capabilities, and allows the budget minded user to
recycle older speakers as phase-in peripheral units in
conjunction with new speaker upgrades. "
I would agree and say that the new Emu 10k1 chip is significant to Creative because it puts them in a position to be the king in PC audio including professional applications. Question is, how much is this thing, and will they do a good job when they release it? Technically, they screwed up with the existing AWE series. There is no need to respond with sales figures, but if they had done the job right there would be only a few other viable soundcard companies in existance. |
