Free trade is the idealistic liberal idea.
totally false, and i bet you can't back that up with any documentation. you just made that one up.
Based on the idea that being good to others will result in good being returned.
free trade has nothing to do with 'being good to each other'. it has to do with self-interest. you do what will benefit YOU. and generally in that process, you inadvertently benefit the one you're trading with.
Free trade will never work as you suggest.
free trade ONLY works as i suggest.
This is the real world just because we do not lay tariff's on other countries does not mean they will do the same.
let them lay tariffs on us! they hurt themselves more than they hurt us. after a while, they would see it as useless and give it up. would you go beat up a kid who didn't want to trade his mickey mantle card to you, or wanted too much for it?
Only in fairy tales. Try sticking your money and credit cards on your back and walk though a large city high crime area.
talk about fairy tales! what does this have to do with free trade??
If you only lose you credit cards and money, and not your life you will be lucky.
of course! no one would be foolish enough to do such a thing.
This is what those who advocate free trade would have us do.
we would advocate no such thing! again, how can you logically connect the dots to make such a stupid move look like free trade?
BS national sales tax would be as bad as income tax, it is the same thing an excuse to tax everyone.
an income tax taxes income. a sales tax taxes consumption. they are not the same thing. they're quite different. and since everyone has a stake in government, nearly everyone should have to pay a tax for it.
Tax's should be more limited than that. We should have the tariff's, some excise tax for the LEGAL control of commerce, sin tax, and a few others.
a single consumption or point of final purchase sales tax would end a lot of bureaucracy as well being transparent, both of which would be beneficial.
If you want limited government you don't let them tax everything, which is what both a national sales tax and income tax does.
if you want limited government make it (the tax) transparent so nothing is hidden, and have everyone feel the sting when their is money taken.
The problem here is that you have bought onto some liberal ideas and think that by swapping them in different forms is conservative.
you're making this stuff up. as i said above, show me anyone but you that thinks that free trade is liberalism. they might think it's too conservative, but not liberal. |
