Bob, our extra violent deaths affect life expectancies surprisingly little. I calculated it sometime ago at below 0.2 years. Here is an article that tries to explain the differences.

However, what is glaring is not the difference in life expectancies and infant mortalities. It's the huge difference in COST. I thought conservatives here would be interested in that. If the US health care system cost the same as UK, we would save a staggering $1.1 Trillion per year.

I believe that at this point the only health care system we can afford as a country is a socialized system like the UK's simply because of its much lower costs.
