Sorry here's the link......its in at 2:30

I get what you're saying and I agree.....yes, straightening is painful, I've been told. Takes hours...We need to look no further than the hair styles of the black female pundits on the news programs and Oprah re: the pressure to make themselves acceptable for "our society"....PS: did you know they call getting their hair straightened a "permanent" instead of straightening?

I am not sure what a permanent is......I thought its what happens when you go to the salon and have your hair done. Sorry I am little behind when it comes to hair. ;-)

I threw the crack and prison sentence issue in there because I witnessed it first hand in Boston when it was peaking in the early 90s----coupled with the easy acquisition of guns?....so painful to witness. It made me hate(don't use this word lightly)Reagan. His CIA imported the cocaine/crack from south of the border to arm their side and dumped it into inner cities like LA, NY, etc...This issue made impelled me to go full bore activist re: our children and families.

There is so much crap about Reagan that came out in the congressional hearings that took place in the early 1990s.....I read about them in the early part of this century and I was stunned. Its incredible that Rs hold him in such high regard.

Coke, PCP and meth just added to the break down of black familes.........but the spiral was already in place well before then. Life is hard enough when you are white but it gets much harder when you are person of color.

The native Americans haven't fared too much better. Did you know that huge populations of NW native Americans were wiped out by European settlers when they first moved into the PNW? Not with guns.....but by disease. The tribes up here had no horses so they had no immunity to the diseases caused by horses.......like the measles. I think measles killed 200K native Americans in the PNW.

And then there is the whole thing about what the introduction of sugar based products like bread and alcohol did to the reservations during WW I............diseases like diabetes, hypoglycemia, heart disease, candida and heart disease which had been fairly rare previously, suddenly skyrocketed. Alcoholism and diabetes continue to be a big problem.
