Just got back from the emergency room with elder son. No football parent likes to start a paragraph that way but that's the nature of the sport. Earlier today I come to find out elder son was interviewed 11 days ago by MSG Varsity (Madison Square Garden; the network that broadcasts the Mets), which of course he neglects to tell me. Then, in today's scrimmage, which for some reason drew a huge crowd at home, during one particular drive late in the contest, the other team started going nuts on the sideline rooting on their defense. Next play our QB is sacked. Huge roar and high fives. Then our fans start getting into it. Next play 30+ yard toss to elder son who jukes out the defender on the one to score. Our team goes nuts. Elder son comes out, subs go in, elder son goes in for the last few plays, gets hit along the sideline after making a catch, doesn't even get tackled, and there goes his shoulder. Can't even lift his arm. Geez.
