Die shrinks and wafer size increases have lowered the unit costs of chips or bits and allowed for lower unit prices or lower prices per bit. Lower unit prices or lower prices per bit contribute to to a negative slope in overall sales. The slope is not negative because price elasticity has resulted in huge gains in unit volume or huge gains in bits.
