But not fast enough for those young lives that have suffered a painful death before the protease inhibitors/the "cocktail" changed that. Now AIDS is not considered a death sentence as it once was. How soon people forget. Now, all the bears and shorts cry " see , it was not a "cure"; "eradication" , albeit still possible may never completely come or will at least take much longer than expected.

News Summary; AIDS epidemic continues to sweep the world,-surpassing all estimates, a vaccine is decades away, PIs are not a "cure", combination therapy works and has kept people healthy and "undetectable" in excess of 3 yrs (Indinavir) and may continue indefinitely, T Cell Gene Therapy as "an important addition to AIDS drug therapy" "to potentially complement AIDS Drugs" by CEBE is the potential last ingredient to the "cocktail" for the "cure"-if this new therapy proves effective-it still may take years before on the mkt. There is a distinct possibility that AIDS may never be cured. Protease Inhibitors will be the standard treatment for at least the next 10 yrs.
