<When there are wildfires, Gov Perry calls on FEMA for help.>
Exactly.
The day after Lehman went bust, Republicans abandoned everything they had said since Reagan, about small government, the primacy of the free market, reducing Washington's intervention in the economy, getting rid of regulation, and how horrible it was for the government to own or manage anything. As soon as the crisis was over, the Reagan rhetoric came back (but not the substance, which nobody really believes in).
Just in case anyone thinks that's a partisan attack, The Democrats are every bit as insincere. Everyone wants government help in every crisis, and nobody wants to pay for it. No problem, just put it on the credit card and let our great-great-grandchildren pay for it. |
