OT. Speaking of people who shot themselves, one of our old family friends, and I do mean old, 84, recently shot himself after a diagnosis of prostate cancer. Funeral yesterday. Given the slow progress of prostate cancer surely he would have died of other causes long before the cancer got him. I can only assume he was not in his right mind. Very hard on the family.

Of old family friends, people my family have known since they were all young, three suicides, one heart attack while driving on the Interstate; he, at least, had the presence of mind to pull over and expire on the side of the road, although his wife, a passenger in the car, had to witness.

I do wish these old Alpha males would all be so considerate.

Very OT, your post just made me think that maybe there was something worthwhile in posting this observation. Life is what happens when we are making other plans.
