The iPad is a lot more handy than a notebook. I just crawl into bed at night turn out the lights and read 'til I fall asleep. It actually saves quite a bit of power too. My desktop uses around 100w. The iPad charges at 25w. For around 75w I can use the iPad for 10 hours. The same time on the desktop would use 1,000w.

The reality is a huge number of people never needed a computer at all but it was the only way they could get the entertainment they were looking for. Not anymore.
