RE: *OT* Nocturnal habits
Sheila,
You caught me. If you must know, I was finishing the Form 990 tax return for my nonprofit for 1996. It was due 17 November (following two extensions from a due date of 15 May), and I've been struggling with it because I inherited the paperwork on 1996 and have had to essentially reconstruct the whole year's bookkeeping to file the return. This is the first time since I quit teaching that I've worked this late. The message to you was my nightcap to take the edge off my being wired after a long, long day's and night's work. And this message is the same thing for Tuesday.
The good news is that the Form 990 is finished, as of a half hour ago.
I'm glad you like the region. It's my favorite, too, though I'd much rather adjoin the ocean. (In 1985-1986, while I was a fellow at MIT, I got to live one house in from the seawall in Winthrop, Massachusetts, and watched the sun rise over the Atlantic from my living room window at 6:15 every morning.) Troy, where I live now, isn't exactly the garden spot of the Northeast, but I'm hoping to move it in that direction via the advocacy of my nonprofit. <g>
Buy-and-hold works for Warren Buffet, so it can't be all bad. Your retirement shoud be very secure indeed.
Regarding my investing, I have the knowledge, but not enough of the guts or the capital to put it to as good use as it should be put to--at least not yet. <g>
Sweet dreams.
