A few sailors in a boat 20,000 km from home couldn't take over swarms of Maoris against the will of the Maoris. Maoris saw the advantage in trading with and ganging up with the English. It was a mutual pact. As with even the most harmonious of marriages, perhaps even including yours, things don't always go totally blissfully delightful in happy harmony. When there are very many different parties involved, it's not surprising that some are disaffected, just as I am now, but you and TJ don't offer me sympathy. I am far more put upon than Maoris were by the early NZ government which left them alone in their tribal enclaves. Even now, Maoris get a free run compared with me and my descendants. Weirdly and ignorantly, you and TJ think Maoris are hard done by. Mqurice
