Yes government employment has dropped modestly for two years, but that was after a huge run up over a multiple generations. Its still at a very high level, too high to be optimal.

We don't have enough revenue to cover current spending, but that's mostly because current spending is so high.

Yes. A lack of governance under Bush.

That's a myth, government expended greatly under Bush.

Government pushing of and subsidizing housing helped form the bubble, as did government pressure on expanding lending, and government reserve requirements for banks that treated mortgage holdings far more favorably than most other assets.
