Looking at the KLIC performance over the past year as leader of the Group stock performance, I reviewed the Reuters research report for more information. The report is very thorough, and one of the pages from the report reviews the PE and PEG performance over the past 5 years. That page is shown below along with a 5 year monthly chart of KLIC for comparison of price performance compared to the PE and PEG data.

I have always thought that KLIC traded at a "discount" compared to many other semi equip stocks, but I didn't realize just how much the discount was. The page of this report gives some actual numbers. As noted on the page, the companies Trailing PE, Forward PE, and Forward PEG multiples are all currently at or near their 5 year lows. Apparently, the market doesn't think much of this since during the last 4 months KLIC is in a downtrend falling from 12 to the 8 dollar area, about a 30 percent or so haircut.

The forward PE is 6 and the PEG is 0.4 on the chart which corresponds to the Group data table just posted this week. Obviously, the KLIC stock price has been influenced by the recent market downtrend. However, being down 30 percent or more from its peak 4 months ago should put it in position for a possible nice uptrend when the market starts a new uptrend. Of course a new uptrend may not happen soon, and a lot can happen in the meantime.
