Clearwire has a unique position in spectrum - an average of over 130MHz of 2.5-2.6GHz spectrum. This is a combination of spectrum from old Clearwire and that from Sprint that went into forming 'New Clearwire'. The WiMAX network pioneered the use of MIMO-OFDMA technology that has gone into LTE/LTE-Advanced and has been chosen by Clearwire, Sprint and the majority of hte industry going forward.

What this will eventually mean is that the service will become higher bandwidth and the coverage will improve over time. The investment has risks because the capital and much of the sales comes from Clearwire's partners, including what will be needed to do upgrades and additions to roll out TD-LTE service, probably during late 2012 or 2013. Meanwhile, "if the shoe (service) fits, wear it".
