Richard- I will try to answer your points. Remember, a lot of what I do at this stage is trial.
It seems that RSI measures price strength and the period used measures this strength in a certain time frame. Well 13 days and 55 days are used because they are fibonnacci number and because they are approximately on a one to four ratio. This ratio allows a series of four cycles to complete in the time one completes(theoretically). I have noticed that many stocks seem to turn when a 13 day cycle crosses above/below a 55 day cycle. The divergence created shows that the short trend is piercing across the long trend and will begin to "pull" the long trend with it. My formula at the moment for testing is:
Long: rsi(13) > rsi(55) and tsf(13) > tsf(55)
Thus the linear trend and price strength from the 13 day cycle are crossing the 55 day cycle.
Exit: rsi(13) < rsi(55) and tsf(13) < tsf(55)
The only problen is that in some fluctuating circumstances rsi(13) whips back and forth across the 55 day line. But in many cases it can predict a trend change.
I got the idea from DAve and Joe's stoch(rsi) which measures relative RSI over a period.
I actually set it up as an oscillator so that I can see the changes more easily.
Now I believe from what I have seen that crossovers do show changes in trend if you find the right intervals. This can be done with MA and many other indicators. I have been favoring the 13/55 because in many cases it "works". I noticed that you have leaned to the 13/89 based upon your studies and maybe I will find in due course of time that such crossovers are more effective. i guess I am still unsure about the use of longer cycles and their evaluation. Often, If you throw up a bunch of crossing indicators on the same template you will see a pattern of crossing.
For example I have a template which has rsi, stoch, dahl, tsf and maybe one more all with 13/55 crossovers. Often they all seem to cross at the same time. I did the same with 5/21 crossovers but was not as satisfied with the effect or results.

We need to get John B. & Dave etal on NetM.Have you downloaded Derek's other NetMeeting type software? I will try this weekend.
Please give refences to magazine articles on IE 4.0. sounds interesting.
sincerely
andy
