Not related to Xoma

I ment to say economically shielded. There are more people in Sapporo than all of the Ryukyus. Plus I feel the Japanese have successfully intregtated (read stole the island from the Ainu) Hokkaido into their system. You will find mainland banks and large corporate offices in Sapporo and Hakkodate. The Okinawans on the other hand don't have this. Probably relates to
1. Okinawa is historically a poor prefecture.
2. 30 years of US military control of the island after the war. Everything here was destroyed during the WW II assult, sometimes refered to as "The Typhoon of Steel."
3. Not a large population base.
4. The Okinawans have so far successfully resisted assimilation by Japan.

Kyoto is beautiful, as is Nikko. Also Sapporo snow festival is a must see. Plan to take my kids in another year or so. They have never seen snow.

In past thread has not minded being occasionaly hijacked when things were slow, like the current consolidation phase. Takes our minds off of the question, "Why can't those other idiots see the value of this great company and buy, buy, buy the stock, thus increasing our portfolios' value beyond the dreams of Avarice."
