I mean from the science point of view. As for Germany it is going to be surrounded by countries using more nuclear (France, Poland). And the countries who paused to take a look at their nuke plans after the Japan disaster still plan to press on building more (India, China, US).


Now think about that. The Germans are getting religion on nuclear power - but can simply access it from outside their borders. Boy - that is a whole lot of capital going up in smoke. Think of the economic damage of simply shutting down viable hardware worth billions. And oh yeah - we are supposed to care for the starving masses - something I would prioritize over green folly.
