A woman I worked with told me that she wanted to help the poor. When she graduated from college, she became a social worker. She found that many of the people she wanted to help refused her offer. It reminds me of your offer to Loco to improve his situation. He rejected it. She became fed up and is now a conservative. She went to work for a large corporation and was fairly successful. Sure there are people like you talked about but if they have the desire to work and aren't afraid to accept a job because that means they will lose government benefit they will do OK.
