David, Kurlak was quoted in the 10/27/97 Fortune as saying:

"If I don't include every factor that moves a stock--market psychology included--then I'm not doing my job."

I find it hard to believe that stable DRAM prices would tend to have no effect whatsoever on the "market psychology" of MU.

Therefore, it is a "factor", and it is relevant.

FWIW, SBN had a piece on MU shipping samples of 64-Mbit SDRAMs. Don't know if anyone posted it already, but it's:

techweb.cmp.com

In a piece on weakening flash memory prices, SBN also had a mention of DRAM weakness in the Taiwanese spot market for older 1x16 parts and 4x4's:

Unfortunately, MU is being victimized by bone-headed industrial policy on the part of some foreign governments and foreign bankers who can't seem to say no. Maybe one of the long-term effects of the Asian crisis will be a thinning of the foreign DRAM herd and/or thinning resources limiting capacity expansion and being poured into only their most critical needs, which seem to be technological.

Good trading,

Tom
