FASTCOMM ADDS ENHANCED SNA CAPABILITIES TO FRAD PRODUCTS
FastComm Now Offers SNA/QLLC for SNA over X.25 Networks; SNA Conversion between X.25 and Frame Relay Networks
STERLING, Virginia, November 18, 1997--FastComm Communications Corp. today announced that its EtherFRAD™, RingFRAD™, and MonoFRAD™ products have been enhanced with SNA/QLLC capability, allowing the company to support additional forms of SNA traffic. Inherent to the FastComm products is the ability to map between any SNA environment, for example, to link SNA-over-X.25 sites with SNA-over-Frame Relay sites, and more.
This added capability is of immediate benefit to businesses transporting their SNA traffic over X.25--these customers can now take advantage of all the benefits of moving to Frame Relay, without having to modify their host equipment. In addition, their SNA traffic can be combined with other Intranet (LAN) traffic, while still maintaining response times due to FastComm's exclusive MaximumPRIORITY™ multistream prioritization, FastRATE™ CIR and congestion management, and FramePROTECT™ data protection capabilities. This important SNA functionality is available as a no-charge upgrade to FastComm F9000 series products. FastComm follows a Legacy-to-LAN migration philosphy, enabling existing business applications to be transported over the wide area as easily as modern Internet and IP-based solutions.
"We're pleased to announce the addition of this important customer requested SNA functionality to our products," stated Peter Madsen, President of FastComm. "This new functionality gives our customers the ability to transparently migrate their SNA traffic from X.25 to Frame Relay Services, and to painlessly route traffic from remote legacy applications to headquarters!"
FastComm gives Carriers and Integrators a "best-of-breed" platform for combining legacy and LAN applications, as customers demand better solutions to the problem of integrating legacy applications into their LAN-driven Intranets and Extranets.
With industry-leading LAN+Legacy™ application support, advanced features as MaximumPRIORITY™ multi-stream prioritization, FastRATE™ adaptive congestion and CIR control, FramePROTECT & trade; data protection for mission critical applications, and optional managed, integral T1/E1 DSU/CSUs and on-board ISDN interfaces for dial-networking and dialbackup, the Data, Voice and Video capable FastComm products are the best value available to customers today. |
