Must have missed it myself. All the claims I heard said the largest effect would not occur til 2010. By fourth quarter 2009, the GDP had already turned positive. It was barely negative in the 3rd quarter 2009. Enlighten us.

Within a few weeks of when the stimulus passed, lots of people knew their jobs were safe for a while, schools, firehouses, police stations, etc knew they weren't closing for the next couple of years.... that increased consumer confidence and thus spending. And it got better from there, for a while. But we've stagnated again.
