Not a retailer, but part consumer products company nonetheless. And the idea of dumping a business where you are the world market leader is about the dumbest move I could imagine HP making. It's a cash cow, as management (perhaps unintentionally) admitted in trying to explain the move when they noted how many billions of dollars a year it generates to support R&D in the other businesses.
