[TI deal]

wow.

my take is that TXN didn't want AMTX to fall into the hands of LU.

WSTL comes out of this with all the IP assurances it needs and none of the dilution. dunno why the stock won't start heading back toward the mid-20's once the news is digested.

will TXN sell the current AMTX hardware line and the BCTel contract to WSTL? or will TXN compete head-on with its largest customer, USRX? is USRX at a dead-end doing its own DMT implementation and now planning on using TXN's AMTX solution? Will TXN embark on DSP-based VDSL? Whither the NEC partnership? how dead is CopperGold?

if counter-bids are coming, i'd bet on COMS or maybe LU.

winners: TXN WSTL
neutral: AMTX
losers: MOT AWRE ADI LU
unknown: USRX/COMS SIE NEC

mark

p.s. $20/share stinks.
