These analysts sound like clowns to me.

But the problem is that alot of people listen to them. I have to believe that their recommendations are made to benefit their company. If a client wants to purchase a large block of stock, then a recommendation to "sell" might drop the price and let them fill the order at a lower price.

I saw on CNBC this morning a comment about how the securities industry regulates itself. At times, I feel that they are doing a very poor job. Now if H&Q were to say that for the week prior and following their announcement, that no shares of QNTM were purchased by any of their clients, then the rating might be reasonable. But you know that this is not going to happen.

The only thing that most analysts' have going for them is the ability to write well. Telling the truth is another matter.
