Washington Irving had all of the records of the Astoria expeditions and files available to him, as he was writing under the orders of John Jacob Astor. The resulting book is non-fiiction, but it reads like a great resource for a fictional account of that wonderful period of American history. For someone like myself who is very interested in western history it is very readable.

I got it for free from my iPod.
