>The United States has also lost economic ground to countries such as Brazil or Germany because its best and brightest have been flocking into jobs in finance, rather than engineering or research and development, Batista said.>

The reality is that US has been producing college and high school grads in the 3-4 million range per year for 40 years. China's absolute college graduate numbers per year have gone up 20 times in last decade and now exceed US numbers. And the high school grads are many times that. India's annual college grad numbers have gone up 3-4 times in the last decade and are closing in on US numbers.

Batista should accept that it is more of others catching up than US falling down.
