Geez, you think you're prescient. It isn't like everyone hasn't known all the crap equipment is going to be left behind. You think we're going to pay to bring all that crap home?

But you were totally wrong as the cost of it. As is pointed out in the article, the costs are sunk. You remarks on this point claimed there would be ADDITIONAL COSTS for equipment left behind.

This stuff is not depreciable under government accounting standards; it is expensed when purchased.
