I was looking at Tandy Trower's site hoaloharobotics.com

If you look under partners you'll find a link to robosoft, a French company.

If you look at robosoft's partners you'll find a link to "DOMEO", which is a government sponsored program.
robosoft.com

DOMEO home page gives this:
Key figures :

    starting date : July 1st, 2009duration : 36 monthsbudget : 2,4 M€n° AAL : AAL-2008-1-159

So it seems a lot of money has gone into this project, but I didn't find the hardware to be very impressive, especially since the program is 2/3 of the way through it's project period.

Software is open source and it seems to be mostly a PC on wheels with a simplified interface.

I can't remember where I saw it, but the hardware goes to "pre-defined locations". Note that the latest test is in a mock apartment situation. It does avoid obstacles, but it will not shadow like the CareBot. It appears that the client will have to use the same chair in the same place in each programmed location. CareBot software strikes me as being much more flexible.

It also seems that the initiative for action is with the client or with a remote caregiver. There is even a red SOS button for summoning help, but I don't understand how this is any improvement over the old "Help I've fallen and I can't get up" medic alert system.

I have to study the GOSY site some more. I'm curious about how the system logic branches out to make decisions. I don't know how much of that information is proprietary at this time either.
