The H & Q downgrade may be pretty much after the fact of major price adjustment, but it reflects the fear and uncertainty in the market for HD companies. H & Q probably advised their clients to sell or go short last week and is just getting around to issuing the downgrade.

On the bright side: The effect of Seagates' new warning about earnings this quarter and the H & Q downgrade have been pretty mute. If that holds up after the news has had a chance to diseminate for 2-3 days, that will be a signal of a bottom. The posibility for Quantum to come out with a downward revision for earnings still overhangs the stock. With the H & Q downgrade, maybe it is about time for management to issue a statement about the impact of competitive pricing and potential downturn in Asian business.
