a long term crude chart for everyone's perusual... do you realize that when Jerry Ford ran for President in 1976 his campaign pins where WIN (Whip inflation now)..... and look how the serious inflation occurred in the subsequent 4 years. and then Volker came in and put the Fed Funds rate up to 19% in Jan of 1979 and incrementally dropped the FED FUND rate dow to 9% by the summer of 1979 and then he really doubled down and drove FED FUND rates to 19% plus by the end of ther year in 1979... heading into 1980..... and broke the back of inflation. there is not more than 3 people that read this that can even conceive of taking FF rate up to 19% down to 9% and back to 19% in one year.
