In addition, if the $25,000 used to pay for the automobile comes from funds you had saved in earlier times and were net of federal income taxes, the new federal sales tax would in effect be a duplicate tax. Any savings, investments, etc. you have when the federal sales tax goes into effect and which previously had been federal-income-taxed, would be taxed again when used by you or ultimately by your heirs to purchase federal-sales-taxable items. This double taxation is never brought up when the Fair Tax group and other supporters are pushing the federal sales tax concept.

Just think what a National Sales Tax on an automobile of average $25,000. would be-----------10% would be $2,500 then add to that the State Sales Tax , for discussion sakes-------5%. That would be 15% of the $25,000 or would be $3,750.00 for a $25,000. car in taxes .
