Only NY Mets and Yankees fans hate the other team. In CT, where we have plenty of both, we often root for both. Same for football. Rather, being in the middle of NY and MA, it's there where you have to take a side. Growing up with just a few channels on the TV, WPIX (Yankees) and WWOR (Mets) being two of them, it made no sense to root for a Boston team you never saw. The voices of Rizzuto/Messer/White and Kiner/Nelson/Murphy are etched in my brain.
