What I was trying to say is when a software vendor has a lot of bad press related to perceived financial difficulties, or agressive accounting practices, their customers hear about it and take notice. They may have concerns about the financial stability of the vendor or even perhaps the ethics of how they do business, the latter issue being of importance to conservative companies like financial instituions. If they are about to make a decision, they may delay it for a while and/or re-evaluate the competition. If they are a current user they may delay additional purchases. Also, sometimes there is turnover among the sales or implementation staff which can push out the pipeline as well.
