9/30/11 Contest Update
The bell chimed a mournful adios to Q3, a quarter in which most investors waved adios to their YTD gains.
At Friday’s close, the NBI was down -.05% YTD (vs. up 1.61% YTD a week ago) and the Contest median was down -11.75% YTD (vs. down -8.88% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index was down -8.95% YTD (vs. down -6.39% YTD a week ago).
Despite taking a substantial hit for the week, GENE’s portfolio (up 36.51 % YTD) remains in the top spot, with JIBAC’s portfolio (up 32.68% YTD) in second place and MCBIO’s portfolio (up 27.48% YTD) holding on to third place.
At Friday's close, a mere 8 of the 38 Contest portfolios were in the black, while the same 8 were beating the NBI.
