we need an update on yer profile.

are you doing any coaching this year?

No coaching. Just watching.

what sports are the offspring pursuing?

My daughter is playing soccer. First year at it. She's learning quickly and really likes it.

The boys decided not to play high school football. :(
I thought joining the team would be a good way for them to make friends at the new school. They didn't think so. I wasn't going to force them or anything. They are doing just fine and were right. They are making friends and loving the new school.

are you still working on the lake property? status update?

I have not. Been busy working on the new house and trying to get the old one fixed up to sell or rent.
However, I plan on going up for Columbus Day weekend to finish the large shed I started building last year.

the sidekick doing?

Good. She got a part time job working at the kids' old school and really enjoys working with the students as their teacher's aid.

how are things at the new ranch on snapper pond?

We are so happy here. Just love it.

Yesterday morning...
Took a walk down to the pond with the Wondermutt. Two deer on the other side spotted us and kept tabs on our every move in between chews of ground cover. My clueless dog could smell them but not see them. His sniffing shifted from bathroom duty to guard duty. He pulled the leash downhill and the eyes on the deer grew larger. Inside the house, my daughter Maggie saw us and quickly slipped on her Uggs and hoodie and skipped through the wet grass to us. The mist was lifting and revealing the bright blue sky. Three ducks watched the fog climb higher as the slight breeze blew it south. We watched them dunk their heads under the water and then flap their wings, almost standing on their tails to dry off. Then it was time to fly. They took off to the north but then circled to the right coming back right at us. Maggie remarked how pretty the Mallard's green head was. "Those ducks are my favorite!" she said while pointing straight up at them. We walked up the hill while noticing new wildflowers in bloom that we had not seen before. Maggie looked at me and said, "I really like it here." I smiled large and we walked back to the house with the dog leading the way. I am a lucky man.
