Crackdown on “criminal” mothers who desperately try to enroll their kids in better schools:

An African-American mother of two, Ms. Williams-Bolar last year used her father’s address to enroll her two daughters in a better public school outside of their neighborhood. After spending nine days behind bars charged with grand theft, the single mother was convicted of two felony counts. Not only did this stain her spotless record, but it threatened her ability to earn the teacher’s license she had been working on.

I’m no relativist, but it makes more sense to jail mothers who don’t care enough to try to do this. Maybe if the rich paid just a little more in taxes we’d lick this tiny little problem.

And in other news: yet another famous economist wants America to be more like Europe. No thanks Jeff. And maybe that decline of civic virtue you admonish and maybe that decline of happiness and the life well lived you admonish has something to do with your ideas. Maybe, just maybe, is that possible? So, here’s another person claiming that crony capitalism, or modern progressive corporatism is destroying America, and his conclusion is to tax all of us more? Sure Jeff, raise the stakes and raise the amount of loot floating around in Washington, and then you will be shocked when people work harder to get at it? To forget that possibility is nearly as preposterous as your claims that taxes spur growth. Read the rest – at least now we know where the “softness” of America is coming from. Leave me alone Jeff. Is that so hard to do?
