Do you think that there is a correlation between school budgets and schools performance? Which direction?

Comparing between current public schools in the US there is a positive correlation between higher school budgets and better performance, but its not as large as you might think, esp. if you adjust for other factors.

Comparing budgets over time and there is little or no correlation between higher budgets and better performance. Performance has been roughly static while budgets in terms of real spending per student have about doubled every generation. You also don't have a clear positive correlation (and may have a negative correlation, depending on how you account for other factors) when comparing spending and achievement at private schools and public schools in the US, or spending and achievement in the US compared to other wealthy countries.
