A charity is fine, but that doesn't require public financing through government taxation. No one is stopped from donating a dime to St. Judes.

Government is not required, and it only exacerbates problems. Demanding government intervention is just a nice way of saying the bottom 60% are putting a gun to the top 40%'s heads and demanding the top 40 pay for the bottom 60's medical care. I resent other people that don't pay taxes volunteering me to pay for their charitable impulses through taxation.
