I added 32MB of RAM.
UNBELIEVABLE difference in performance.
I've been trying to crash it all morning, but to no avail.

I originally had 16MB which was pretty much the standard configuration a couple years ago when I bought the system.

I've never been able to open more than 4 browser windows without major slowdown or crashing.

To test things, I opened up 6 browser windows, printed about 20 pages, opened up TC2000, Supercharts and played Freecell all at the same time.

Usually a print job would bog things down in major fashion, but I hardly noticed any slowdown at all. Needless to say I'm stoked and wish I'd done this long ago.

I didn't realize it would make THAT MUCH difference.

I'm considering adding even more. Will doubling the RAM give me twice the speed again or is there a point of diminishing return?

Believe it or not I paid 34.95 per 16MB AND got a 10 dollar rebate as well! I'm not sure if it was a mistake or not, but I took the chips, the rebate and got the hell outta Dodge.<G>

It's a good thing I asked some questions yesterday and got a feel for things because the salespeople were brain dead as usual.
The woman that started helping me, lead me totally in the wrong direction and when I questioned what she was spewing she got some other yo-yo in on it who was just as worthless.

They finally got frustrated with me and got the "official tech guy" over there. He got a good laugh out of the whole thing and finally gave me the right stuff.
Saved me a trip back to return the stuff the other two tried to tell me I needed. The idiots wouldn't know a computer chip from a cow chip.

BTW-Also bought Riven. Didn't really get a chance to play much as it was late after installing the game and the RAM, but so far it looks GREAT.
Not sure if you're into that type of thing, but if you are, go out and grab a copy ASAP.
The sound is particularly impressive.
