Why We Love Hillsdale by Steven Hayward (Steven Hayward) I’m at Hillsdale College today, lecturing on “The Education of Ronald Reagan” as part of Hillsdale’s fall conference of their Center for Constructive Alternatives,” which is quite naturally observing Reagan’s centennial. There are lots of reasons to love Hillsdale, of course, but there’s one more on the program for the conference today: an afternoon segment on “Shooting Instruction at Hillsdale College,” with Hillsdale’s NRA-certified shooting instructor Bartley Spieth. How many colleges in America proudly showcase shooting instruction? For that matter, if, say, Brown University’s student council hears about this, how quickly can they pass a resolution deploring it?
