<<I think it might also depend on how you see it. Being a distributor myself, I see redistribution as an easy way to keep the underclasses happy. Do I wish there was no underclass at all? Absolutely. But in eveyr society there is one- and the most peaceful stable societies have smaller gaps between rich and poor. I, as a distributor, wish to live in a stable and peaceful society, ergo I choose to prefer distribution. I don't see the idea as class warfare- although the idea can certainly be sold that way.>>

Well said.

My dear old mom used to say: "those people on welfare are not living all that well, so they are no one to envy. One of the folks I rent to and subsidize her rent, barely makes it from month to month. She has mental problems that really make it hard for her to keep a job. When she gets desperate she will ask me for a little money which I give her.

But another thing many seldom think about is that some of us were born with better health or in a better environment, or stronger. It seems to me those of us lucky enough to be born in better health and in a better environment have an obligation to help those who are not as fortunate.

And as you say, it helps stabilize our society. And makes it more humane.
