"taking to the streets over the wars."
No draft. Persistent unemployment, underemployment, big college loans, unions under assault, "me" paying taxes so billionaires don't have to combine to be "The Draft" of our time. Yeah, this is big, and I don't know either, but I'm gonna enjoy it as long as I can. Great guerrilla theater. I could use another arrest on my record before I die. I don't think policies will change because of it, until after the elections. R's won't vote for millionaire tax, corporate anythings. Gonna be a pissed off electorate, and I think the Dems can hang on and surf the wave, but then they have to be Dems and produce. This is Madison gone viral, and it is effing exploding like nothing I've seen. No Teeper ginned up stuff; this is real, and it didn't take Faux to make it happen. This is becoming the student-worker alliance we tried to achieve during Nam, and it just happened, poof. Now, the cops need to figure out the people they are beating and spraying are the ones paying their salaries and their future pensions.
Where is FDR when we need him? I'll settle for a hippie chick who is part of the 99%....
"You built a factory out there? Good for you, "But I want to be clear: you moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for; you hired workers the rest of us paid to educate; you were safe in your factory because of police forces and fire forces that the rest of us paid for. You didn't have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory, and hire someone to protect against this, because of the work the rest of us did."
"Now look, you built a factory and it turned into something terrific, or a great idea? God bless. Keep a big hunk of it. But part of the underlying social contract is you take a hunk of that and pay forward for the next kid who comes along."
