Women, some women, will always use their bodies to make their case, if they can, as long as they can, until they can't.

It doesn't last, but nothing ever does.

You work with what you've been given. Body, brains, talent, connections. Some have all four, some none, and have to work that much harder.

You won't sell your own daughter out to the highest bidder based on her looks. I think you won't, at any rate.

My own father, born in 1932, wanted me to be a high achiever, based on brains. He believed in me. Still does.

As does my husband. As do my sons.

Even if I had been born a great beauty, at my age that would be gone by now, but I still have brains. My older son, who is also a lawyer, asks me every day for legal advice and insight. This is very sweet.

Feminism, yes, but my way. Both sons were born while I was still in law school. I received my diploma carrying one son en ventre sa mere, the other holding my hand when I walked across the stage, to applause.

24 years later, both sons gainfully employed, one a lawyer, one in medical research.
