Times are hard, there are very few jobs... there is a lot of anger out there. Finding a focus for that anger would mean not letting a good crisis go to waste. The only way Obama can get reelected is if Democrats will manage to convince enough people that economic hardships are caused by misguided Republican policies. Instead of the ruling party getting thrown out of office, let them throw out the... loyal opposition. You have lemons? make lemonade. Blame the other guys, and strengthen your mandate. If it must take a trade war with the second largest economy in the world - so be it.

...Interesting that those dim youngsters on Wall street are pissed off at the banks for receiving bailouts, but NOT at the politicians who pushed the bailouts through. They are willfully blind. Misdirecting them would not be very difficult.
