10/7/11 Contest Update
Stocks were up for the second week in a row and I can only think of one reason for this rare occurrence: I got married on Wednesday!
At Friday’s close, the NBI was up .74% YTD (vs. down -.05% YTD a week ago) and the Contest median was down -10.12% YTD (vs. down -11.75% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index was down -6.54% YTD (vs. down -8.95% YTD a week ago).
We have a new Contest leader! JIBAC’s portfolio (up 32.35 % YTD) took over first place as GENE’s portfolio (up 27.47% YTD) took another big hit. Although still in second place, GENE’s portfolio performance is likely to remain volatile due to reallocation of the substantial ICGN buyout proceeds. MCBIO’s portfolio (up 26.02% YTD) hung on to third place.
At Friday's close, 8 of the 38 Contest portfolios were still in the black, while just 7 were beating the NBI.
