I think we need real pragmatic ideas not so ideological and partisan. Take the best of various sides and go with it. We can't afford our imperialistic sojours and must bring defense to the 21st century fighting today's battle. The savings on defense brought back home and invested here would have a huge multiplier effect on economic activity at home from going green, to infrastucture and advances in education ect...Also we've got record wealth disparity needing to be addressed via much higher rates at a million plus and or a wealth tax but give generous tax credits IF you invest in infrastructure and create jobs in America.. That $2T in cash circulating in liquid financial instruments needs to be funneled to the real economy via incentives and more demand from the middle class that can be greatly boosted in this deleveraging phase via Keynesian policies.. Too many loopholes and too many businesses pay no tax even as we go to a more cashless society should be easier to track and tax. Also why is there not sales tax on a host of professional services? Every service should pay a sales tax and if we took proper steps on prostitution, drugs, under the table cash biz ect.. like we are gambling could generate a lot of added revenue. Out of all of them what Bartlett talks about to solve our problems in his New American Economy I find most interesting of all that could generate 250k+ jobs a month and nominal GDP at over 6% to grow our way out. Other than gutting the military and his true honesty Ron Paul falls too much into the teabagger type mentality that is clueless IMHO as there is a time for everything and maybe if the teabagger revolt took hold in 2003-04 I would have been on board that cause. A Ron Paul presidency with a GOP congress would ensure Great Depression 2..
