Herman Cain will speak at Oct. 13 event at Ohio Christian University CIRCLEVILLE -- A Republican presidential hopeful who made some noise in the race this past week will appear at an upcoming Faith and Freedom Rally at Ohio Christian University. Herman Cain, a businessman, politician, columnist and radio host from Georgia who entered the Republican race in May, will be the headline speaker at the Oct. 13 rally. The event will be from 6 to 8 p.m. in Ohio Christian University's Maxwell Center. Cain, although not considered a front-runner for the nomination, attracted attention this past week when he won a Florida Republican straw poll that some say was more of a protest vote against Texas Gov. Rick Perry. Cain took about 37 percent of the vote, compared to 15 percent for Perry and 14 percent for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. Cain told NBC's "Today" show the test balloting was "not a protest vote" and said his performance shows "the voice of the people is more powerful than the voice of the media." chillicothegazette.com * * *
